Safety
Occupant safety
Your vehicle is equipped with the following
airbags:
앫
Driver's front airbag located in the
steering wheel
앫
Passenger front airbag located in the
dashboard
Airbag deployment
The airbag deploys within milliseconds.
The
1
warning lamp lights up.
Airbag deployment slows down and re-
stricts the movement of the vehicle occu-
pant.
By design, hot gas escapes from the inflat-
ed front airbags if the vehicle occupant
makes contact with the airbag. This reduc-
es the load on the head and chest of the
vehicle occupant. These airbags are there-
fore in a depressurised state following the
accident.
i
If the airbags are deployed, you will hear a
bang and a small amount of fine powder may
also be released. This bang will not damage your
hearing and the powder does not constitute a
health hazard.
Risk of injury
G
After an airbag has been triggered:
앫
airbag parts are hot – do not touch
them, otherwise you could be burnt
앫
have the airbags replaced at a qualified
specialist workshop which has the nec-
essary specialist knowledge and tools to
carry out the work required.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you
have such work carried out at an
SLR Service Centre. In particular, work
relevant to safety or on safety-related
systems must be carried out at a quali-
fied specialist workshop.
