Troubleshooting

Problem

The red coolant warning lamp
lights up while the engine is
running. You will also hear a
warning tone.

The coolant level is too low.

The coolant temperature has exceeded
120 °C. The engine is not sufficiently
cooled and may be damaged.

Stop as soon as possible and allow the en-
gine and the coolant to cool down.

Check the coolant level and top up the miss-
ing amount (

If you are having to top up the coolant more
frequently than normal, have the coolant
system checked. Consult your PLM or a
qualified specialist workshop, e.g. an SLR
Service Centre.

If the coolant level is correct, the radiator
fan may be faulty.

The coolant temperature has exceeded
120 °C. The engine is not sufficiently
cooled and may be damaged.

Do not drive any further.
