In PCO Application, the calls are routed either through Mobile Port or FXO Port depending on the LCR logic. SE
should program the database consisting of area codes, pulse rates, concessional rates, normal/concessional
timings and concessional dates for both Mobile and FXO Port.
Since the billing schemes for the landline and GSM/CDMA differs, two databases viz. Database 1 and
Database 2 need to be programmed. Database 1 will be used if the call is made using the Mobile Port and
Database 2 will be used if the call is made using the FXO port. Database 1 and Database 2 are retained
even during power failures.
For Mobile Port:
Program Database 1 for Mobile Port.
Area Codes:
Use following command to program an area code:
531-Area Code Index-Area Code-#*
Where,
Area Code Index is from 0001 to 1000.
Area Code is a number string of maximum eight digits.
Example:
To program area code 022 (Mumbai) at index 0001, issue command '531-0001-022-#*' .
Maximum 1000 area codes can be programmed. To program more than 1000 area codes, the available
area codes need to be compressed using following method:
•
Sort all the area codes in the increasing order. Write applicable pulse rates against each area code.
• Group the area codes having common digits and same pulse rate type.
• The common digits are the truncated area codes, which need to be programmed.
• Program the truncated area code for the area code group formed.
• Left out area codes must be entered individually.
• Usually, the area codes of places in the remote areas from your city can be compressed in one code.
• When the number is dialed, the system searches for the best fitting area code.
• When the area code dialed by the user is not found in the area code table, the user is not allowed to
make the call, if metering pulse on FXS port is set to 12/16 KHz. In order to make the call through, first
area code entry in the area code table is to be kept blank.
