Let us take an example to understand the compression of area codes:
Suppose you need to enter following area codes in the database table and the normal rates and concessional rates
for calling these area codes are shown below:
Now, as all the above codes have same pulse rate, it is possible to compress them to one code. The code would be
011 and Normal Pulse rate and Concessional Pulse rate would be 80.0 and 40.0 respectively.
In case your database consists of area codes having different pulse rates then you must program different codes
for area codes having different pulse rates as shown below:
• Program 011 code for area codes 0110 and 0112 as both have same Pulse rates.
• Program 0113 code, for area codes 01130 and 01135 as both have same Pulse rates.
• Program 012 code for area code 0124 as it have different pulse rate.
After compressing the area codes as mentioned above, program the codes in Area Code Entry in the database as
shown below:
