GTXI User's Guide

Figure 1-2: GTXI-700B in Stand-alone Mode

GTXI-700 as a Bus Extender

When used as a bus extender, the GTXI-700 is connected to an
external device that controls its boards. The external device can be a
PC–host controller, a GTXI-700 in stand-alone mode, or a GT7700.
One slot on the host computer must contain a GTXI-701-PCT Bus
Expander Board, sometimes called a transmitter board. The
transmitter board is connected by a six-foot shielded cable to a
GTXI-701-PCR Bus Receiver Board on the GTXI-700, it sends and
receives the ISA bus signals between the host PC and the
instrument platform. Up to 13 ISA boards can be installed in the
GTXI-700 in this mode.
