GTXI User's Guide

Hardware buffering enables or disables the use of system resources
to the controller module, the host computer, or the instrumentation
platform. These resources can be one of the following:

♦

I/O addresses

♦

Memory addresses

♦

IRQ channels

♦

DMA channels

By default, hardware buffering enables all resources except from
I/O addresses in the range of 200h-23Fh and 300h-33Fh to the
controller module. This default can be changed using the GTXI-
Config utility (see page 101).

This chapter contains the information required to program the GTXI
in order to assign resources. Resources are assigned using the
GTXI-Config utility (see page 101) or GTXISET (see page 120).

The GTXI-Config Utility

The GTXI Configuration Utility (herein called GTXI-Config) is a
Windows application that can be used to assign system resources to
the GT7700’s system controller, the GTXI-700’s GTPC-7586
controller module, the GT7710 Expansion Chassis, or the GTXI
instrument platform. The executable file is named GTXICFG.EXE.
Resources can be assigned for up to four different GTXI systems
per controller. GTXI-Config is used to assign the following types of
system resources:

IRQ channels

♦

DMA channels
