Extra “Going Secure” in Remote Control Mode

Applicability:

ALL

Symptom:

When establishing a call to a remote terminal, the remote terminal sees “Going Secure”

twice.

Cause(s):

It is an anomaly of the Release 1A/1B software. It should only affect users who are

developing telecommunications software scripts for automating data call establishment and file
transfer.

Resolution:

If you are writing scripts, consider that you might see two copies of some messages.

Erratic Host Data Port Operation

Applicability:

ALL

Symptom:

When performing PC file transfers, the line speed does not appear right.

Cause(s):

Many PC serial ports do not fully support EIA-530.

Resolution:

Make sure your Host Data Port option is set to RS-232.

AUTOVON/DSN Precedence Tones Incorrect

Applicability:

ALL

Symptom:

The switch does not recognize call precedence requests, or the call precedence is not

what you expected.

Cause(s):

(1) If the subscriber line is not provisioned to support call precedence, the switch will not recognize
call precedence requests.
(2) If the subscriber line is provisioned to support call precedence, a digital switch will recognize
specific characters as precedence characters, an analog switch will recognize specific DTMF Tones.

Dialing precedence was implemented in STE Release 1B. There are no known problems when

connected to a digital switch. However, STE Release 1B inverted the precedence/DTMF Tone
mapping (e.g., Flash Override = 941 + 1633) for analog switch connections.

Resolution:

(1) Coordinate with your serve provider to have your subscriber line provisioned for call precedence.
(2)

The Precedence/DTMF Tone mapping will be corrected in STE Release 1C. Until then, if you are

connected to an Analog Switch, use D = Flash Override, C = Flash, B = Immediate, A = Priority.

Self-Test Failure: HP 0004

Applicability:

ALL

Symptom:

The STE displays “Software Test Failure: HP: 0004”.

Cause(s):

The STE has encountered a Software Verification Error.

Resolution:

Insert Crypto Card and perform a MODE-MUTE Reset.

Case-Sensitive AT Commands

Applicability:

ALL

Symptom:

Under some conditions, a “remote dialing command” connection is established but the

connection fails to go secure.

Cause(s):

Under analysis. It appears the problem only occurs if the AT commands are in upper

case.

Resolution:

Make sure the AT commands are all in lower case.

Remote Authentication 112 or 128 KBPS data call disconnects prior to far end authorization.

Applicability:

ALL

Symptom:

A STE under Host Port Control attempting to establish a remote authentication secure

data 112 or 128 kbps call spontaneously fails then disconnects the call.

Cause(s):

STE internal ISDN resource management requires initiation of the secure data traffic flow

within 100 to 200 milliseconds of remote authentication data receipt in order to maintain ISDN B
