priority ring pattern back to the terminal upon a successful attempt. This feature does not require a call
appearance/feature button with a lighted LED.
DEFINITY Auto Callback is assigned as a feature on a call appearance/feature button only.
5ESS Repeat Call is a CLASS feature and must be assigned to the line on a subscription or per-use
basis to function. This feature may be assigned to a call appearance/feature button, but may also be
accessed by means of feature access code.
9-4.1.3 Auto-Hold
Auto-Hold is a local hold feature allowing the STE user to press the HOLD button and place a data bearer
call on hold. Retrieving a call placed on auto-hold is a two-step process. You must press the data bearer
call appearance associated with the flashing data bearer call appearance indicator (in the lower left
corner of the STE display) and then press the speakerphone button or lift the handset to go off-hook on
the data bearer call appearance. The auto-hold feature is different from the switch hold feature. The
switch hold feature is reserved for voice calls and does not work for data bearer calls.
9-4.1.4 Bad
Beep
If you press a feature button rejected by the switch, the STE will provide a 600 Hz tone (a “bad beep”) to
alert you that the switch has rejected that feature activation. There are many reasons why this can occur.
These range from a feature not being provisioned for the pressed feature button, to pressing a
provisioned feature button at an inappropriate time. The “good beep” tone is at 738 Hz.
9-4.1.5 Analog
Bridged Call Appearance
An Analog Bridged Call Appearance allows a STE-8510 user to have a call appearance of an analog
voice terminal, such as a regular PSTN desk phone. An Analog Bridged Call Appearance can be used to
originate calls from and answer calls to a specific analog voice terminal as programmed by the switch
administrator. An Analog Bridged Call Appearance can also be used to bridge onto calls to or from a
specific analog voice terminal as programmed by the switch administrator. Bridged call alerting must be
enabled at the switch for alerting at a station with bridged calls assigned.
A bridged call appearance is considered the same as a normal call appearance when determining the
value of the Last Call Appearance to be entered in the configuration menu. This feature must be
assigned to one of the first six call appearance/feature buttons with an LED.
9-4.1.6 Digital Bridged Call Appearance
A Digital Bridged Call Appearance allows a STE to share the call appearance of another single or multi-
appearance digital voice terminal user’s primary directory number. A Digital Bridged Call Appearance can
be used to originate calls from and answer calls to a specific digital voice terminal button, as programmed
by the switch administrator. A Digital Bridged Call Appearance can also be used to bridge onto calls to or
from a specific digital voice terminal button, as programmed by the switch administrator.
For example, an assistant might have a bridged appearance of their supervisor’s extension. The bridged
appearance button functions exactly like the original call appearance; it indicates when the appearance is
active or ringing. The switch administrator must program which extension and which call appearance
button you want to monitor at this phone. A bridged call appearance is considered the same as a normal
call appearance when determining the value of the Last Call Appearance to be entered in the
configuration menu. This feature must be assigned to one of the first six call appearance/feature buttons
with an LED.
9-4.1.7 Call Forward All
You can access the Call Forward All feature using an assigned feature button. When the Call Forward All
Feature button is pressed (the associated LED will light), all new incoming calls to the primary directory
number will be directed to the programmed forwarding destination. The switch will send a special call
forwarding alerting pattern to the forwarded terminal when this feature is enabled. (See Paragraph
for information on alerting patterns.) This applies to the Call Forward Busy Feature Button and the
Call Forward No Answer Feature Button as well. This feature must be assigned to a call
appearance/feature button with an LED.
For the DEFINITY, you will program the number on a per use basis.
