9-4.1.13 Drop
When set to the STE-8510 switch type, the STE DROP button may be used during a conference call to
disconnect the last station added to a conference or to disconnect non-conferenced calls.
When the DROP button is pressed, the STE will go off-hook and provide a new call appearance after
disconnecting the active call.
If you try to drop a second conferee after having dropped a conferee, the switch will reject the request
and the STE will emit a “bad beep”.
9-4.1.14 Auto Exclusion
Auto Exclusion is provided by enabling or disabling the feature at the switch through class of service.
Auto Exclusion toggles the initial state of the exclusion feature to ON. When a terminal connected to the
DEFINITY has Auto Exclusion enabled, exclusion is active as soon as you pick up your handset. To turn
off Automatic Exclusion during a call, you press the feature button assigned to Exclusion. Pressing the
Exclusion feature button allows other appearances to be bridged onto the active call. Automatic
exclusion is reactivated automatically when the STE goes on-hook. This feature must be assigned to a
call appearance/feature button with an LED.
Use of the auto exclusion feature will prevent secure calls on voice bearers from being bridged and
possibly disconnected.
9-4.1.15 Manual Exclusion
Exclusion allows multi-appearance telephone users to keep other users with shared call appearances of
the same extension from bridging onto an existing call. If you press the feature button assigned to
Exclusion while other users are already bridged onto the call, the other users are dropped. Exclusion is
deactivated automatically upon going on-hook. This feature must be assigned to a call
appearance/feature button with an LED.
NOTE
The Exclusion cannot be activated during a secure call, because feature button
presses are not recognized during a secure call.
9-4.1.16 Hold
Pressing the HOLD button places the current call on hold. When a call is on hold, the associated LED
blinks (slow On/off). Pressing the call appearance associated with the blinking LED reconnects the call
(the associated LED will go to steady on).
9-4.1.17 Intercom
A form of abbreviated dialing, pressing the feature button assigned to Intercom followed by one or two
digits dials one of up to one hundred people in an intercom group programmed by the switch
administrator. The switch will send an Intercom Alerting pattern to the called terminal when this feature is
used. This feature does not require a call appearance/feature button with a lighted LED.
9-4.1.18 Message Waiting (Visual Indicator)
The STE provides a visual Message Waiting indicator (which is activated by the switch) to indicate you
have a message waiting on the local voice mail system. The Message Waiting indicator is an alternating
display of “V” and “M” in the rightmost character of the third line of the display. See
specific location of the Message Waiting indicator. If the STE is disconnected from the switch or reset, it
may take up to an hour for the switch to send a message-waiting indicator message to the STE and re-
activate the indicator.
9-4.1.19 Mute (Local to the STE)
To Activate the Mute function for both the handset and the speakerphone microphones with an active call
appearance in use, press the MUTE button and the associated LED will light (steady On). Outgoing
audio is blocked, but incoming audio can still be heard.
