Rel. 2.6
In the 5ESS, the forward destination is programmed once, and then the feature button toggles the feature
on and off. The number is not set on a per use basis. The 5ESS switch feature is called Call Forward
Variable Feature Button (CFVFB).
9-4.1.8 Call Forward Busy
When the feature button assigned to Call Forward Busy is pressed (the associated LED will light), all new
incoming calls to the primary directory number will be directed to the programmed forwarding destination
whenever the primary directory number is in use. You will program the number on a per use basis. This
feature must be assigned to a call appearance/feature button with an LED.
9-4.1.9 Call Forward No Answer
When the feature button assigned to Call Forward No Answer is pressed (the associated LED will light),
all new incoming calls to the primary directory number will be directed to the programmed forwarding
destination whenever the primary directory number is unanswered after a set number of rings. You will
program the number on a per use basis. This feature must be assigned to a call appearance/feature
button with an LED.
9-4.1.10 Call Pickup
Pressing the feature button assigned to Call Pickup allows you to answer a call ringing in your pickup
group. The switch administrator assigns the members of a call pickup group. If more than one number of
the pickup group is ringing, the call pickup feature will be routed to the call that has been ringing longest.
This feature does not require a call appearance/feature button with a lighted LED.
9-4.1.11 Caller ID/Called Number Display
The STE displays the Caller ID information provided by the switch depending on the switch type and the
information provided. The STE is capable of displaying the calling party identifier, calling party name,
called party identifier, and/or called party name. The STE is only capable of displaying 30 characters.
The STE will interpret incoming caller ID information and will delete extraneous spaces to fit as much
display information as possible.
NOTE
Caller ID information may be overwritten by security related messages such as
“INSERT CRYPTOCARD” or “SECURE COMMUNICATIONS DISABLED” at any
time.
9-4.1.12 Conference (3 or 6-Way)
The switch Conference feature is used for setting up non-secure conference calls with up to 5 additional
parties. This feature does not require a call appearance/feature button with a lighted LED.
On the DEFINITY switch, the 6-way non-secure conferencing feature is standard and does not require a
feature button. Conferences on the DEFINITY are invoked using the CONF button on the STE.
On the 5ESS switch, the 6-way non-secure conferencing feature is optional and must be provisioned by
the switch administrator. The feature can then be accessed using either the STE CONF button or a
provisioned feature button, for which an LED is not required.
If a called next party number is busy or unanswered, pressing DROP will disconnect the call to the busy
or unanswered next party.
NOTE
If you press DROP, you will disconnect the last number added to the conference
from that terminal. (Note that only the last conferee can be dropped from a
conference.
Further presses of the DROP button will result in a “bad beep”.)
Any party can disconnect from the conference by going on-hook.
A conference request (i.e., 3 way conference active, 4
th
conference in progress and on-hook) can be
aborted if the initiating terminal goes on-hook, only if the switch administrator has programmed that
feature.
