3. In the NETWORK SETTINGS menu, press
SELECT
to advance to the ACTIVE NETWORK
PORT menu (
). The ACTIVE NETWORK PORT display shows the service selected
as the active port - ISDN, PSTN, TRI-TAC, BDI 530A, or BDI 232. The default setting is ISDN
and must be changed.
To change the service, press
CHANGE
(once from default setting - ISDN) until PSTN is
displayed.
If the STE is equipped with an International PSTN Adapter (wedge), display Figure 2-23a will
appear. If equipped with a Conventional PSTN Adapter, display Figure 2-23b will appear.

If the STE is equipped with an International PSTN Adapter, it must be configured to meet the host country
requirements. The adapter’s default settings are for the United States, which also apply to Canada,
Japan, Korea, and the United Kingdom. When used in other countries, the adapter‘s physical
configuration must be setup following the procedures in Paragraph
. If the adapter will be used
with the default settings, proceed to Paragraph
If the STE is equipped with a Conventional PSTN Adapter, proceed to Paragraph
Mode).
2-6.2.1 Configure the International PSTN Adapter
NOTE
The five switch settings on the International PSTN Adapter must be made before
continuing the configuration of the STE.
When accessing the STE, and especially while making setting on the
International PSTN Adapter, follow proper Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
procedures. At a minimum, ground yourself before touching the adapter.
Failure to observe ESD procedures may result in damage to components on
the adapter.
The switches on the International PSTN Adapter must be changed to the setting listed for the Host
Country in
Table 2-19
.
1. Remove the handset (Office STE only) and place the STE upside-down on an approved ESD
work surface. Connect yourself to the workstation with an approved and tested ground lead
(heel or wrist strap).
