Table 8-6. S-Register Summary
Register Description
S31
a. S31 holds the maximum value, measured in milliseconds, of the time in which the DTR
signal must return to ON for the STE to resynchronize without returning to the Command
State.
b. The default value for S31 is 100 (100 milliseconds).
c. S31 has a valid range of 0 to 255. If an attempt is made to set the register to a value
outside this range, send the error result code to the DTE and leave the register
unchanged.
d. If an attempt is made to set the time value greater than the time value in S32, set the
time value equal to S32 and send the success result code to the DTE.
S32
a. S32 holds the maximum time (measured in hundredths of seconds) in which the DTR
signal must return to ON for the STE not to disconnect the call when in a secure state. If
the DTR signal is set to the OFF State by the DTE for a period greater than S31 but no
greater than S32, the terminal enters the Command State while maintaining the secure
connection to a far-end terminal. If the DTR signal is set to the OFF State by the DTE for
a period of greater than S32, the STE terminates the secure call, goes on-hook, and
returns to the Command State.
b. The default value for S32 is 50 (500 milliseconds).
c. S32 has a valid range of 1 to 255. If an attempt is made to set the register to a value
outside this range, send the error result code to the DTE and leave the register
unchanged.
d. If an attempt is made to set the time to a value less than the time value in S31, set the
time value equal to S31 (rounded to the next higher hundredth of a second, if required)
and send the success result code to the DTE.
S33
a. S33 is bit mapped to store the option listed below:

b. The default value for S33 if 0.
c. If an attempt is made to set bits 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 (reserved bits) to 1, send the error
result code to the DTE and leave the register unchanged.
d. This register can always be read by the DTE. Only a STE-R can write to S33. If the
terminal is not a STE-R, it will always return a value of 0 and will send the error result
code to the DTE and leave the register unchanged if an attempt is made to write to the
register.
S35
a. S35 is bit mapped to store the options listed below:
