to display the SECURE SIGNALING MODE menu (
). Then press

twice to display the SCIP LINE QUALITY menu (
) and follow the procedures to make the
setting and then press
MODE
or
BACK
to clear the display.
Remember, in order for off-hook changes to SCIP Line Quality settings to take effect, the call must be
transitioned to NONSECURE, and the secure session must be reinitiated. Also, remember that off-hook
settings only hold for the duration of the call and will revert to the previous setting upon going on-hook
(hanging up).
5-4. SPEED DIAL KEYS
NOTE
STEs set to 8510 are restricted to the lower six speed dial buttons.
To set, change, or erase a
SPEED DIAL
number follow the procedures below:
1. Make sure the STE is in an idle state (i.e., handset on-hook, speakerphone off, and no call on
hold).
2. Press
MODE
, and then press the
SPEED DIAL
key you want to program. The display shows
the entry menu (

Where xx is the Speed Dial Key number (1 – 10)
Press: Result:
BACK
Returns the STE to the MODE menu.
3. Whether a number is presently assigned to the key or not, when you enter the first digit for a new
number, the display will present the action menu (
Figure 5-50
). The number may be up to 25
characters, including pauses.

Stores the entered number and returns the display to the MODE menu.

once to wait for a PSTN dial tone (“W” appears in the display).

twice for a 100-millisecond dial delay (“,” appears in the display).
Press PAUSE three times for a two-second dial delay (“,,” appears in the display).

, to change an incorrectly entered digit.

Acts like a backspace – deleting the last character to the left.

Exits the programming function without making change.
