Rel. 2.6
3-7
3-1.3.3.7 SPKR Key and Indicator
If enabled by the TPA, pressing
SPKR
(Speakerphone) turns the speakerphone on or off in both secure
and non-secure modes. When the speakerphone function has been activated, the LED is lit.
NOTE
If the speakerphone function is activated while the call is in progress (secure or
non-secure), but has been disabled for that particular mode, you will be alerted by
the front panel display to use the handset.
3-1.3.4 Dial Pad Keys
The Dial Pad keys (numbers
0-9
,
*
and
#
) provide the dialing digits needed for placing calls. These
buttons are also used for entering information in the Terminal and Card Management Menus.
3-1.3.5 CARD INSERTED Indicator
Whenever you insert a crypto card into the STE, the
CARD INSERTED
indicator will flash in preparation
to it becoming a continuous light. If the terminal determines the card in invalid, or it is not compatible, the
indicator will flash and you will be notified on the alphanumeric display to remove the card.
3-1.3.6 Speed Dial Keys
The 10 programmable
SPEED DIAL
keys allow you to pre-program frequently called numbers. Once
programmed, you may dial a number by pressing the associated key while off-hook.
3-1.3.7 Programming
Keys
3-1.3.7.1 MENU Key
MENU
is used to enter and exit the menus to view or change the Terminal Management and Card
Management settings while the STE is on-hook.
3-1.3.7.2 MODE Key
MODE
may be used with the STE on-hook or off-hook. It is used to configure the modes of the STE and
to enable Speed Dial setting modifications. Settings made via the MODE menus when off-hook are only
valid for the length of that call. Settings made via the MODE menus while on-hook are stored in the
terminal for use on subsequent calls.
3-1.4 Terminal
Reset
The STE can be reset or cleared, by momentarily pressing the
MODE
and
MUTE
keys simultaneously.
Within this manual, terminal reset is typically shown as “
MODE+MUTE
”. This action will not clear the
wedge. To clear the wedge, you must cycle the power by briefly disconnecting the power from the STE.
Remove the power cord from the wall receptacle rather than removing the connector from the STE.
3-1.5 Audible
Alerts
The STE provides you with audible alerts as beeps (bad beeps sound at 600 Hz; good beeps sound at
738 Hz), and as ring tones.
3-2. CEU, DATA STE, STE-R, STE-RI, STE-RT OVERVIEW
The CEU, Data STE, STE-R, STE-RI and STE-RT were introduced in Paragraph

PANEL
The general arrangement of the CEU, Data STE, STE-R, STE-RI and STE-RT is shown in
The CEU and STE-RI have the same front panel indicators and controls but they do not have a wedge.
