OPERATION OF THE MACHINE _________________________________________
Read the Safety Instructions.
BEFORE YOU OPERATE FOR THE FIRST TIME
•
Check and adjust the tyre pressures. If necessary, see section 4.2 Specification.
•
If necessary, add diesel fuel to the tank.
•
Check the engine oil level. If the oil level is not correct, fill the tank to the correct level.
•
Check the radiator coolant level. If the oil level is not correct, fill the tank to the correct level (use 50% anti-
freeze solution).
•
Make sure you understand the information contained in the previous sections.
7.6
STARTING THE ENGINE _______________________________________________
To start an engine that is cold, use the procedure shown below.
1.
Make sure that the FWD/ REV foot pedal is in Neutral position and the mow switch is turned off. The
throttle must be in a center position.
2.
Turn the ignition switch to position No.2 and hold until the glow plug light turns off (5-10 sec.)
3.
Turn the ignition key clockwise to the start position and operate the starter motor until the engine starts. To
start the engine takes 3 to 5 seconds.
4.
When the engine starts, release the key immediately. The key must return to the RUN position.
5.
If the engine does not start, turn on the Preheat switch to hear the glow plugs and try again.
NOTES:
•
If the engine does not start after two tries, wait 20 seconds and try again.
•
You must not run the starter motor for longer than 30 seconds or the motor can fail.
•
When the engine is warm, the engine starts without the Preheat function.

DRIVING ____________________________________________________________
•
Release the brake. Make sure the parking brake is completely released before you move in a forward or
reverse direction.
•
Forward -
Carefully press the top of the FWD/REV foot pedal to reach the ground speed that you need.
•
Reverse - Carefully press the bottom of the FWD/REV foot pedal to reach the ground speed that you need.
•
To stop - Carefully return the FWD/REV foot pedal to the Neutral position.
•
To stop the vehicle on a slope it can be necessary to apply the reverse traction. The 305/405 Models
feature 4WD in reverse, operated by a rocker switch on the control panel - see Chapter 6 - Controls
NOTES:
•
Use complete foot to operate both forward and reverse.
•
Do not press the pedal suddenly–always operate slowly and carefully. Do not move the pedal from forward
to reverse quickly.
•
