Cstate This attribute defines the control state of the machine. The
possible states are:
•
Ready for NIM operation.
(Required state to perform an operation on an object.)
•
Diskless or dataless boot is enabled.
(This is not relevant in the RS/6000 SP environment.)
•
Diskless resources are being initialized.
(This is not relevant in the RS/6000 SP environment.)
•
Dataless install has been enabled.
(This is not relevant in the RS/6000 SP environment.)
• Diagnostic boot has been enabled.
•
BOS installation has been enabled.
• Base operating system installation is being performed.
•
Customization is being performed.
•
Post-install process is being performed.
•
Software maintenance is being performed.
platform The hardware platform of the system:
•
rs6k Micro Channel-based uniprocessor systems
• rs6ksmp Micro Channel-based symmetric multiprocessor
systems
• rspc ISA-bus systems
In the RS/6000 SP environment, only rs6k is relevant.
if1 This attribute specifies the interface to be used for the
installation. It holds the name of the used network resource
spnet, the later host name of the system, the MAC address of
the network adapter that is used for network booting, and the
type of network adapter.
cable_type1 This is bnc or dix in the RS/6000 SP environment.
prev_state This attribute displays the previous state of the NIM object.
cpuid Stores the ID of the CPU.
Mstate This attribute defines the machine state. Possible values are:
• Currently running
•
Not running
• In the process of booting
It is not guaranteed that this state always displays the real state
of the system.
Cstate_result This attribute specifies the result of the last control applied to
this machine object.
The nim command

command is used to perform operations on NIM machine objects.
