FID A3: Cleaner Cartridge-Present Sensor

Removal of Cleaner Cartridge-Present Sensor

1. “Prepare the Tape Device for Service” on page PROC-5.
2. Remove the two screws securing the cleaner cell to the bracket. These screws may be seen easily

from the front of the machine.

3. Pull the cleaner cell far enough to disconnect the sensor cable.
4. Remove the two screws securing the micro-switch (sensor) to the cleaner cell.
5. Remove the micro-switch (sensor).

Replacement of Cleaner Cartridge-Present Sensor

1. Install the new micro switch.
2. Install a cartridge into the cleaner-cartridge holder and adjust the micro switch until there is continuity

between the two pins. Adjust further until there is no free play in the micro switch actuator.

Note: Do not adjust the switch beyond the point of free play or you may bend or otherwise damage

the actuator.

3. Tighten the switch holding screws.
4. Remove the cartridge and re-install the wires removed earlier.
5. Reinstall the cleaner cartridge holder into the library.
6. Prepare the drive for customer operation.
7. If this part is being replaced with a new part, use your local procedures to report the FRU part number

for the FID and use technical area code (TAC) T31 for the area of failure.

8. Return to the procedure that sent you here.

FID A5: Library Sensor Cable

Removal of library sensor cable

1. “Prepare the Tape Device for Service” on page PROC-5.
2. Refer to Figure 329 on page APPENDD-42, item B, and disconnect the cable connector (CD2) from

the library control card.

3. Perform the removal procedure for “FID 9D: Library Front Cover Assembly” on page APPENDD-47.
4. Disconnect the cable connectors from the following sensors and LEDs:

a. Cleaner cartridge-present sensor
b. Accessor motor calibrate sensor

c. Drive global sensor pair (right side)

d. Magazine global sensor pair (right side)
e. Priority cell cartridge-present sensor

f. Library LED card

g. Library door open sensor
h. Drive global sensor pair (left side)

i. Magazine global sensor pair (left side)

5. Open the cable clamps as required to remove the cable from the machine.

Replacement of Library Sensor Cable

1. Perform the removal procedure steps in the reverse order.
2. Prepare the drive for customer operation.
3. If this part is being replaced with a new part, use your local procedures to report the FRU part number

for the FID and use technical area code (TAC) C03 for the area of failure.

4. Return to the procedure that sent you here.
