Installation Checkout—Library Models

Before turning on power, the orange stopper shown in Figure 218 must be removed from the unit. The
stopper is pressed on the rail to prevent the picker from moving during shipping. To remove the stopper:

1. Unlock the library front door if necessary. The keys are taped to the rear of the unit. See step 13

on page INST-3 for additional information about the keys, if necessary.

2. Look inside the unit and find the orange tag, item

that is attached to the stopper, item

The orange tag will assist you in finding the orange stopper.

3. Do not pull on the string or the tag to remove the stopper. Reach inside the unit and remove

the orange stopper from the rail using your fingers. Remove the stopper, string and tag.

Note: Save the stopper with the packaging material for later reshipment or relocation.

4. Install the magazines that were included in the ship group and close the library front door.

5. If this machine is a Model C01 or Model C02, remove the rear cover from the library. The cover is

attached using plastic snap-in retainers. Rotate the plastic retainers one-quarter turn in either
direction to release the cover.

6. If not done by the factory, install the RS-422 jumper cable P/N 65F5399 between drive 1 and drive

2 RS-422 connectors in the rear of the drive units. Some models may ship with this cable
un-installed. The DU0 end of the cable goes to drive 1, and the DU1 end goes to drive 2.

7. Install the power cable in the 3570 and plug it into its power source.

Note: Two power cables are required for Models C02, C12 and C22.

8. A SCSI Wrap Tool, P/N 05H9163 is not part of the ship group, but is available through the service

branch. If you have this tool available, perform “SCSI Port Wrap Test” on page PROC-77 on all
the tape drives, then return here. If the tool is not available, continue with the next step.
