Installing Supporting Slides and Tray in Rack
| When installing the library models in a rack, 6 EIA rack units must be available. See Figure 212 on
| page INST-29 for a template of where the particular parts must go to hold the rails and cable arm
| assembly.
| 1. Determine which rack location the 3570 will be installed in. Count and mark the 6 EIA units on the
| left and right sides of the front and the rear of the rack.
| 2. Refer to Figure 213 on page INST-33 and install the 4 M6 caged nuts

| M6 X 12 socket button-head screws,

, P/N 1621950, in the bottom EIA units on the left side, as
| shown. Leave the screws loose enough to insert the slide mounting brackets

between the
| screw heads and the EIA strips.
| 3. Read the notes below before continuing.
| Notes:
| a. Ensure that the slide is oriented so that when the inner slide is extended out, it extends toward
| the front of the rack.
| b. You will need an adjustable wrench to loosen the nuts holding the rear slide bracket to adjust
| it to the depth of the EIA units. The bracket fingers must go outside the EIA strips (the
| opposite side of where the captive nuts are installed) for both the front and rear mounting
| points.
| c. Do all of the adjustment with the rear mounting bracket. DO NOT loosen the front mounting
| bracket screws.
| 4. Next, fit the left-hand slide assembly

as shown inFigure 213 on page INST-33. Ensure that
| the front and rear brackets

are flush to the EIA strips

on the opposite sides of where the
| captured nuts

are installed. Tighten the nuts that hold the rear slide bracket.
| 5. Remove the left-hand slide assembly

and use that assembly to measure and adjust the
| right-hand slide assembly that is attached to the tray assembly.
| Notes:
| a. Ensure that the slide is oriented so that when the inner slide is extended out, it extends toward
| the front of the rack.
| b. Remember to make adjustments only on the rear slide bracket assembly. DO NOT loosen the
| front slide bracket.
| The two slides should both be the same length. Tighten the nuts holding the right rear slide
| bracket and set that assembly asside for now.
| 6. Re-install the left-hand slide assembly as shown in Figure 213 on page INST-33. Tighten the four
| screws

| Note: Be sure that these brackets are tightened securely using the special hex wrenches
| provided.
| 7. Install a caged M6 nut, P/N 12J5288,

in the top hole of the first EIA unit above the left slide
| and another M6 nut in the top hole of the first EIA unit above the right slide. Refer to Figure 213
| on page INST-33 and Figure 214 on page INST-34

| seen in Figure 212 on page INST-29. You will install M6 X 12 socket button-head screws, P/N
| 1621950 later, in step 9 on page INST-63.
