7. Open the library front cover. (Unlock the door if necessary.)

|

8. For Model C11 and C12 rack installations, in the front of the rack, fasten the left front plate of the

|

library to the rack with screw P/N 1624778. The screw should fasten to the nut-clip P/N 74F1823

|

in the top hole of the EIA unit above the left front slide. See 

5

 in Figure 203 on page INST-18.

|

9. For Model C21 and C22 rack installations, in the front of the rack, fasten the front plate of the

|

library to the rack with two M6 X 12 socket button-head screws,P/N 1621950. The screws should

|

fasten to the caged M6nuts, P/N 12J5288, in the top hole of the EIA units above the left and right

|

front slides. The location of these caged nuts is shown in Figure 212 on page INST-29, and

|

Figure 213 on page INST-33 and Figure 214 on page INST-34

10. Install the SCSI cable from the first drive (if single host) or from each drive (for multiple hosts) to

|

the appropriate host SCSI adatper.

|

Note:  This adapter should have been installed earlier by your customer along with the

|

appropriate driver software.

|

Online Tests for Library Models

1. If this machine is a Model C01 or Model C02, re-install the rear cover on the library. Position the

cover properly, then push the two plastic fasteners in place and turn each one slightly until secure.

2. Ensure the power cord(s) are connected to the library and to the power source outlet selected.

3. Place the Power switch to the ON position.

Note:  Whenever the 3570 power is switched OFF, wait approximately five seconds before

switching the power ON again.

This power-on test takes approximately 2.5 minutes to complete, and is automatically performed
when the device is powered ON.

If a failure occurs, a message can be posted in the operator panel or the operator panel can be
blank. If either of these conditions exist, go to the START section for further analysis. When any
faults are corrected, return here.

Note:  If the 3570 is connected to a Windows NT device, the 3570 power must be switched ON

first. If the 3570 power is not ON when the Windows NT device is powered ON, the
Windows NT device will not recognize the 3570, even if the 3570 power is switched ON
later.

4. The initiator device drivers must be loaded to communicate with the 3570. When this has been

|

done, the library is ready for use. For attachment in RISC System/6000, Sun, HP-UX, Windows

|

NT, or other Open System environments see 

IBM SCSI Tape Drive, Medium Changer, and Library

|

Device Drivers Installation and User's Guide GC35-0154 for instructions to install and configure the

|

device driver. Tape device drivers are supplied for attachment to these systems. The AS/400
system has a tape device driver supplied as part of the operating system.

|

Note:  Ensure that the customer has installed the device driver (Windows NT, HP-UX, Sun

|

(Solaris) or RS/6000 systems), or the required PTFs (AS/400 systems).

To install the device driver and configure the device with default parameters, use the following
procedures:
