TransformerCare Unit
Status monitoring
In spite of this, an initial gas sample can be taken after just 8 or 16 circulations. This
is then excess production for these gases, which means that the measured gas
formation rate is higher than the actual gas formation rate in the transformer. The
danger of underestimating an error therefore does not exist.
An initial sample with sufficient accuracy can be taken one year after installation of
the TCU.
The diagram below shows a typical sequence of degasification.

= Measured gas pressure [mbar]

= Cycle time [s]
The measured pressure (upper pressure) in the degasification and dewatering unit
is proportional to the overall gas content in the oil and decreases correspondingly
quickly. As does the overall gas quantity removed.
Experience values for the withdrawn overall gas quantity (l / 24hours) after the
balanced status is reached for the air gases:
0.5 … 1.5 liters / 24 hours for transformers with closed expansion vessels
8 … 20 liters / 24 hours for transformers with open expansion vessels.
The total quantity of withdrawn gases (ml / day) depends directly on the quantity of
gases which reach the transformer via the expansion vessel.
