Chapter 6. Continuous

Hospira GemStar System Operating Manual

Continuous Programming

Select

CONTINUOUS

from the Programming Menu.

Select the unit of measure and concentration as required.

Enter the rate.

Enter the VTBI (Volume to be Infused).

Enter the KVO rate, if desired.
KVO runs after the programmed VTBI until the total container is infused. If no

KVO is desired, press [

YES/ENTER

] while the value displayed is zero.

Enter the container size (VTBI + KVO).
VTBI is the default value on the

CONTAINER

display.

Select the air sensitivity, if required.

Review the program. Press

to begin review.

If using the PURGE key to prime the pump set, press [

PURGE

] now.

Note: If KVO is programmed, increase the container size to include the KVO

delivery.

To enter the total in mL when programming a concentration, press

to move to

the mL line. Enter the mL size when

flashes on the display.

WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect the pump set from the patient before

priming or purging.
