Hospira GemStar System Operating Manual

Connecting the Bolus Cord

(List 13027-01)

Connect the bolus cord to the port

labeled “Bolus” on the bottom of the

pump.

Using the GemStar Lockboxes

The GemStar Lockbox is an enclosure that can be locked with a key to secure the

pump, and a flexible container or pre-filled vial. When the pump is secured in the

lockbox, the user has access to the AC mains, data and bolus ports, keypad, and bolus

button.

WARNING: Before connecting the Bolus Cord to the pump, check the

condition of the cord for damage and confirm that the 3-pin

connectors are not bent (see figure [1]). Do not touch the

connector ports (see figure [2]) for they may be

susceptible to electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage.

When removing the cord from the bottom of the pump,

firmly grasp the connector and pull straight out (see figure

[3]). Do not twist or bend the cord or connector. DO NOT

USE IF DAMAGED.

Note: For the GemStar Universal Lockbox (List 12499-01) and GemStar Lockbox

with Spring Assist Mechanism (SAM) (List 20706-01) refer to the lockbox for

instructions.
