Hospira GemStar System Operating Manual

Push down on the flow stop 

 to 

close the cassette.

Connect the pump set to a Hospira 

pre-filled vial and injector.

Push down on the flow stop 

 to 

open (priming position) the 

cassette.

Hold the pre-filled vial and set 

upright (vertically) on a flat 

surface with the pump set 

extending from the top.

7

Slowly push down on the injector 

until fluid flows at the distal end of 

the tubing, which indicates that all 

air is cleared from the pre-filled 

vial, injector, cassette, and tubing.

8

Push down on the flow stop 

 to 

close the cassette.

9

If the set includes a KVO 

Y-extension, close the slide clamp 

below the pre-filled vial and open 

the slide clamp on the KVO side. 

Prime the KVO Y-extension.

10

Ensure slide clamp is open on 

KVO side prior to inserting 

cassette.
