UCN COMM STATUS
Selecting the UCN COMM STATUS target produces the
UCN Network Statistics display as shown in Figure 104
which displays the statistics of the UCN nodes and provides
the capability to do a global reset of the communications
statistics. The reset is executed by first selecting the RESET
STATS target and then selecting the ENTER target.
When a node (NIM or HPM) is selected on the UCN
Network Statistics display, the TEST/SEL CABLE A,
TEST/SEL CABLE B, ENABLE SWAP, and DISABLE
SWAP targets are replaced by the BACKUP CABLE TST
target as shown in Figure 105. Selecting one of the
SELECT NODES targets on the UCN Statistics display
displays the statistics for a group of sixteen UCN nodes. The
initial UCN Network Statistics display provides statistics for
the first group of sixteen (16) nodes on the Universal
Control Network that you previously selected. There are four
groups. The node group of interest is chosen by selecting
one of four targets, SELECT NODES 1-16
(initially
displayed), 17-32, 33-48, or 49-64. The UCN Network
Statistics 1-16 display selected by the SELECT NODES 1-
16 target is shown in Figure 104 and Figure 105. Selecting
the RESET STATS target, followed by selecting the ENTER
target, resets the UCN node statistics. When the BACKUP
CABLE TST target is selected, followed by selecting the
ENTER target on the UCN Statistics display, the selected
UCN node will perform a test of the UCN backup cable (the
one not currently selected). This will test the selected node’s
transmitter and the other nod
es’ receivers on the backup
cable. When the TEST/SEL CABLE A or TEST/SEL CABLE
B target is selected, followed by the ENTER command, the
selected NIM will execute the Backup Cable test unless
double cable faults are present. In this case, it will direct the
NIM to recover the view to all nodes on the selected cable if
possible. This assumes that the cable selected has been
repaired.
ATTENTION
With TPN R684, on EUCN systems, UCN coaxial cables are replaced by FTE
cables. FTE does not use the concept of “Active” cable, rather it selects the
best path to communicate with target nodes. EUCN continues to show active
cable for consistency and an indication that cable commands can be sent and
processed; however, “Active” cable plays no part in cable redundancy.
