APPENDIX B
B
Succeeding blocks of the fault report contain the events associated with the fault. The number of events reported is limited
to 14.
The block size is 16 bytes per event. If the number of events present is less than 14 the event code for the nonexistent
event will be 255; that is, if there are 12 actual events, the event code for event number 13 and 14 will be 255.
To read a report, the host should send a preset single register command (Function 06) to the Report Control Register
(address 4400). The values written should be specified as shown in the memory map. The ALPS responds with a valid
Modbus response if no other report request is pending. The host can read only one report at a time, otherwise the ALPS
generates an exception response (Exception code 06: "Busy servicing another long duration command").
e) SETTINGS REGISTERS (START ADDRESS 3000)
The Modbus ALPS has setpoints that are organized in 5 general groups, the GENERAL SETTINGS and the four PROTEC-
TION SETTINGS groups of which only one group can be active at a given time. The group number of the ACTIVE PRO-
TECTION SETTING GROUP is stored in register 3070 of the General Settings group and determines the current active
group number. The Modbus host identifies the group number of the ACTIVE SETTING group by reading this register.
f) COIL COMMANDS REGISTERS (START ADDRESS 0500)
These are write-only registers representing command coils used for activation.
