4.3 Function “ Faults ”
This function is split into 3 sub functions; “Read Faults”, “Clear Faults” and “Advanced Read”.
4.3.1 Sub-Function “ Read Faults ”
Definition
This diagnostic function gives access to the list of currently stored faults in covered ECUs. It helps,
following the reading, to identify the source of the problem.

Only “Confirmed” faults are shown by this function (Fault notion

Access
The IIDTool offers two reading options:
Individually interrogate an ECU to view its
fault list.
Or
See the list of all ECUs having at least one
fault stored.
The “ Select ECU ” option
1-Perform the initial stages of general access
to functions (
2-Select “ Read Faults ”
3-Select the “ Select ECU ” option
4-Navigate through ECUs available using
commands
5-Select the desired ECU with command
6-Wait while reading faults occurs. If no fault is
detected for the selected ECU, the message
“No Fault Stored” appears and it will auto-
matically return to the menu “Select (ECU).”
The “ Scan ECUs ” option
1-Perform the initial stages of general access

3-Select the “ Scan and filter ” option
4-Wait while the scan is performed. Only
ECUs having at least one fault appear in the
resulting list.
