4.11 Function “ ECU Flash ”
4.11.1 Definition
This function allows updating an ECU software to the latest available version. Software updates gene-
rally include bug fixes and/or enhancements and/or new features. Engine Remaps, EGR blanking and
more, are available and provided by
The GAP Diagnostic fast lane service is now
available when a specific ECU re-flash is required and not supported or embedded in the tool.
Access
1- Perform the initial stages of access (
)
2- Select the “ECU Flash” function
3- Navigate through the ECU using commands
4- Select the desired ECU
5- If available, choose the required version
Notes :
•
Not all ECU’s have software updates available.
•
Software updates should only be made when needed and with full knowledge of risks and
consequences this may imply.
•
Make sure the battery is in good condition and well charged. It is best to proceed after the vehi-
cle was driven for a while. This ensures that the battery is fully charged.
• During re-flashing, the instrument cluster may turn OFF and lights may come ON. Once the
instrument cluster comes back ON, follow instructions on screen.
•
The navigation screen may turn OFF and a message indicating a low battery may be displayed.
Simply ignore it.
•
It may take a few starting cycle for error messages on the instrument cluster to disappear after
re-flashing.
• Re-flashing an ECU will reset data including but not limited to the clock and trip computer.
•
App :
If using a mobile App, it can be left in the background, foreground or closed. If the mobile
device is disconnected from the IIDTool, the re-flash will not be interrupted and the App will
show the current status (progress...) automatically once reconnected to the IIDTool.
•
The intelligent start and stop system (Start Stop) will be disabled. It will reactivate automatically
after a few kilometers or engine starts.
•
The IIDTool will verify that the voltage is high enough. If not, the operation will be aborted.
•
The message
“ Flashing Started ”
will be displayed and the instrument cluster will turn OFF. The
IIDTool LED will start flashing rapidly.

the vehicle.

The dashboard will illuminate and a message asking to cycle the ignition will appear. The mes-
sages “Clearing Faults” and “Download successful <+>” will be then be shown,
