(3) Place the distal end of the endoscope without touching
the floor, etc., depress the air/water valve, and check that
sterile water comes out of the nozzle.

Manipulation method differs when a gas/water button
provided with an endoscopic CO
2
regulator is used. For
details on how to use, refer to the operation manual of the
endoscopic CO
2
regulator.
(4) Immerse the distal end of endoscope in sterile water, and
cover the center hole of the air/water valve with your
finger, and be sure that air comes out of the nozzle.
Release your finger from the hole and check that air does
not come out of the nozzle.
(5) Be sure that endoscope has been connected to a suction
unit. Place a forceps valve onto the instrument channel
inlet (if not already attached). Immerse the distal end of
endoscope in sterile water, and check that depressing the
suction valve aspirates water and that releasing it stops
suction.

Visually check that the forceps valve has been properly
attached to the instrument channel inlet of the endoscope.
