Remove the remaining bolts and screws along the bottom of the crate that attach the crate to the pallet.

Slide the sides, top, and back of the crate backwards as one unit until it clears the pallet.
5.
Save the crate (including the shipping panel) in case the chassis needs to be shipped again.
Installing a NetIron MLX-32 Chassis in a Rack
This section describes the following tasks:

Preparing to Mount a NetIron MLX-32 Chassis in a Rack
Keep the following in mind when mounting a NetIron MLX-32 chassis in a rack:
WARNING:
Make sure the rack or cabinet housing the device is adequately secured to prevent it from becoming
unstable or falling over.
WARNING:
Mount the devices you install in a rack or cabinet as low as possible. Place the heaviest device at the
bottom and progressively place lighter devices above.
Because of the weight of a fully loaded NetIron MLX-32 chassis, Foundry recommends mounting the chassis in a
rack before installing the modules and AC power supplies.
In a standard 19-inch (EIA310-D) rack, you can install one NetIron MLX-32 chassis.
For each NetIron MLX-32 chassis that you install in a rack, you must provide eight standard #12-24 pan-head
screws with which to mount and secure the chassis. Before performing this task, you should have an assembled
rack and a #2 Phillips-head screwdriver.
Attaching Mounting Brackets to a NetIron MLX-16 or
NetIron MLX-32 Chassis
The NetIron MLX-16 and NetIron MLX-32 chassis ship with a rack mount kit that contains two L-shaped mounting
brackets and mounting screws.
The chassis sides have two sets of screw holes: one set for attaching the mounting brackets close to the chassis
front, and another set for attaching the brackets toward the chassis center.
Attach the mounting brackets to the sides of the chassis as illustrated in “ Mounting the NetIron MLX-16 or
NetIron MLX-32 Chassis in a Rack” on page 3-22.
NOTE:
The diagram shows locations for attaching the mounting brackets for either front-mount or mid-mount of
the NetIron MLX-16 chassis. Mounting brackets for the NetIron MLX-32 chassis are attached in the same manner.
Mounting a NetIron MLX-32 Chassis in a Rack
Due to its larger size, the NetIron MLX-32 chassis has some requirements different from the other NetIron MLX
Series chassis. Use the following procedural changes when installing a NetIron MLX-32 chassis:
•
Only one NetIron MLX-32 chassis can be mounted in a rack, positioned a low as possible.
•
The empty NetIron MLX-32 chassis weighs approximately 325 lbs. You must use a mechanical device (such
as a material lift or work positioner), and four people are required to guide the chassis into place.
•
When positioning the chassis into the rack from the mechanical lift, use the hand pockets in the sides and
back, and the lifting bar on the front of the chassis, and keep your back straight as you lift.
