OC-192c Ports
The OC-192c POS interface modules support 1 or 2 ports. Into a physical port, you must insert an optical
transceiver provided by Foundry.
The following XFP optical transceivers are available from Foundry for use with the OC-192c POS interface
modules:
Clocking and Timing a POS Interface Module
The POS Interface Modules support the following timing configurations:
•
Internal Timing – This option uses the internal statum 3 clock. This is the default clocking configuration.
•
Loop TIming – This option receives timing from the line
•
Line Timing – This interface receives timing from the line and is used to clock all ports on the same interface
module but not for the entire chassis.
•
External (BITS) Timing – This option allows timing to be provided by a central office BITS system. Each POS
interface module has 4 RJ-48C ports for connection to the external BITS system. The two input ports (labeled
IN) are for receiving clocking. The two output ports (labeled OUT) provide clocking to another POS Interface
module.
Configuration of the internal and external clocking and timing options are described in the chapter titled "Using
Packet Over SONET Modules" in the Foundry NetIron XMR/MLX Configuration Guide.
Clocking Port Pin Assignments
The Clocking ports are standard RJ-48C connectors. The BITS IN and BITS OUT connectors are configured
differently as described in the following tables:
OC48-SFP-LR1
Supports POS OC-48 LR-1 up to 40 km over single-mode fiber (SMF), Hot-
pluggable, Duplex LC Connector.
OC48-SFP-LR2
Supports POS OC-48 LR-2 up to 80 km over single-mode fiber (SMF), Hot-
pluggable, Duplex LC Connector.
