Serial Ports
Both APS/ANG-3000/7000 models come equipped with front panel (behind
the bezel) and rear serial ports intended for debugging and troubleshooting
purposes. The front panel serial port is connected in parallel with the serial
port located at the rear of the chassis. The serial ports’ NS16C550-compatible
UARTS support data transfers at speeds up to 115.2 Kbits/sec with BIOS
support. The serial ports can be assigned as COM1 (3F8h), COM2 (2F8h), or
COM3 (3E8h). The ANG-1100 provides two rear serial ports (COM1, COM2).
Because these serial ports are rarely used and employ industry-standard male
DB-9 connectors, serial cables are not provided with the system. You can use
standard PC serial cables available from any computer supply retailer. This
cable must have a female connector on the Aurorean system end and use
straight-through wiring. Figure 2 shows the pin assignments for all
Aurorean Virtual Network system (ANG/APS-1000/3000/7000) serial ports.
The default serial port settings are as follows:
!
Bits per second: 19,200 baud
!
Data bits: 8
!
Parity: None
!
Stop bits: 1
!
Flow control: None
