Basic System Operation
This chapter describes how to power-up an Aurorean Virtual Network
system, check the LEDs, and reset the system. For instructions on how to
configure and manage Aurorean systems, refer to the RiverMaster
Administrator’s Guide.
Powering Up a System
To power up a Aurorean APS/ANG-3000/7000 series, locate the power
switch (|) on the front panel and press it in, as shown in Figure 64. You must
press and hold the switch for 4 seconds to turn power off.
During boot-up, each Aurorean system initializes a set of services that
collectively perform all VPN functions. Using the RiverMaster management
application (except for site-to-site installations), you can view the status
(running or stopped) of each service on the Aurorean Policy Server. The front
panel LEDs on both system types also reveal which services have initialized
properly during boot-up. Enterasys services are started in the following
order:
1
Delivery
carries messages between all Aurorean components,
including systems, Aurorean Clients, and the RiverMaster
management application. Delivery is a critical service that must be
operational for Aurorean components to initialize properly and
synchronize with one another.
2
Access
supports the exchange of database information stored on the
Aurorean Policy Server to other Aurorean components, such as
TollSaver data, logs, and system configuration files.
