Installation Overview
Installing an Aurorean Virtual Network system consists of the following
general steps; for detailed instructions, refer to Chapters 2 and 3.
1
Unpack the system(s) from the shipping box and remove all items.
The items Enterasys Networks provides are shown on the Quick Setup
card supplied in the box and in Chapter 2 of this manual. If you are
missing any items, contact your authorized Aurorean Virtual
Network reseller or Enterasys Networks Customer Support as
described in Appendix C.
2
Attach rack mounting brackets or sliding rails if necessary.
3
Mount the system(s) into a rack if necessary.
4
Connect Ethernet cable(s) to the LAN port(s).
Both the Aurorean Policy Server and Aurorean Network Gateway
provide two Ethernet ports (only one port is used on the APS).
Connect one port to an unprotected network segment leading to the
Internet (ANG), and connect the other port to a trusted network
segment that resides behind a firewall (ANG and APS).
NOTE
A firewall is not needed for small/home offices using the ANG-1100.
5
Connect the power cord.
6
Power up the system(s) and check LEDs.
LEDs are described in Chapter 4.
Once the Aurorean Virtual Network systems are connected and operating,
install the RiverMaster management application on a computer running
Windows NT 4.0 to configure and manage the systems.
NOTE
RiverMaster is not used when installing a standalone (remote) ANG.
