External Database Expander
A CM2N defined as panel address 62 can be used as an External
Database Expander for a CM1N/RMDP-1N single line network. The
CM1N can support up to 576 zone responses. A single-line network
may exceed that limit in a system that requires several annunciators
each with a full complement of 96 remote switches. In such cases,
CM2N panel address 62 can be implemented to support up to an
additional 576 zone responses. These zone responses must be from
panels communicating on the data line which do not have an ability to
store their own zone response definitions. These remote panels are
annunciators (Serial or Matrix) and IRC-1s. The External Database
Expander will NOT accept any CM2 response definitions. Two separate
and individual database files must be created from the IRC-3 data entry
program. To implement the External Database Expander (CM2N
address 62), perform the following:
Step 1
A. Create the standard database file as required for any single-line
network - entries to include: all CM2N remote panel definitions;
their option cards and devices types; CM2N zone responses; and
system actions, sequences, etc. Include panel definitions for
annunciators and/or IRC-1s but NOT the zone or switch responses.
These will be accounted for in the second step.
B. Define CM2N panel address 62. This panel uses the last remote
panel address number available in a single-line network so it's zone
option cards must be traditional zone type (ZB8-2, ZB8-5, ZB8-8,
ZA4-2, ZB0-8 or ZR8-2). Any zone responses required by CM2N
panel 62 should be defined in this step. NOTE - If CM2N remote
panel 62 is to be part of a regenerative network, all the required
Actions defining the other CM2N(s) and serial annunciator(s) must
be made multi-resident to panel 62.
C. Once the data entry has been completed; save, compile and
download to the system. This database contains the total system
programming and should be downloaded from the IRC-3 data entry
program. You may either download directly to the CM1N and each
CM2N, or take advantage of the remote downloading capability and
download the entire database from the CM1N. Remember, in order
to download remotely, all CM2Ns must have their panel address
downloaded directly to their CPU card first. Also, ensure that the
data communication lines are free of any ground faults, etc.
Step 2
A. This step requires the creation of a completely separate database file
in the IRC-3 data entry program. The second database file will
contain the panel definition for CM2N address 62, it's cards and
device types; panel definitions for all annunciators and/or IRC-1s;
AND all zone/switch responses of the remote annunciator panels or
IRC-1s. It is very important that the CM1N (of Step 2)and CM2N
(of Step 1) panel configurations are completely identical. The
