Character Entry
Entering characters using useful
entry function
You can enter pictograms, symbols or fixed phrases, or
quote data from the submenu of the character entry
screen.
･
The submenus do not appear before characters are set,
on the decoration selection screen of Deco-mail or on
the in-line entry screen.

On the character entry screen,

Input log field
The input log field appears on the first page of
Pictogram 1, 2 and Pictogram D of the pictogram
list, and one-byte/two-byte symbols of the
symbol list.

Only supported symbols appear.

Pressing

switches Pictogram 1 and 2.

Press

to enter symbols. Each time you press
the key, switches two-byte and one-byte symbols.

When there are multiple pages, press

Entering Deco-mail pictogram (Pictogram D) :
On message text entry and edit signature entry
screens, each pressing of
p
switches pictogram
list as Pictogram 1 → Pictogram 2 → Pictogram D.
On a pictogram list of Pictogram D, images saved in
"Deco-mail pict" folders appear. Select a Deco-mail
pictogram to enter it.

Select a pictogram to enter.

to close the pictogram list.

In the input log field, up to 10 pictograms or
symbols from the latest entry are displayed,
allowing to select characters from the list.

Pictograms and symbols can be converted by entering
readings. → P305, 309

Pictograms and symbols transferred via infrared
communication may not appear correctly.

A pictogram or symbol can be entered also by selecting
"Pict/Symbol/Smiley" → "Pictogram" or "Symbol" on the
submenu of the character entry screen. At this time, press
p
to display a continuous input field above the input log
field, and up to 10 pictograms, 10 two-byte (20 one-byte)
symbols can be selected continuously. Note that no
continuous field appears for Pictogram D.

If "Deco-mail pict" folder contains no images, the
pictograms list appears blank when Pictogram D is
displayed on message text entry or edit signature entry
screen.

Deco-mail pict can also be entered by pressing
m
to select
"Decorate mail" → "Insert image" → "Phone memory" on a
message text entry screen or edit signature entry screen.
･
When selecting "Pict/Symbol/Smiley" → "Symbol" on the
submenu of character entry screen, selecting a left
parenthesis (e.g. : {) causes the associated right parenthesis
(e.g. : }) to be automatically entered.
