7.4.2 Safety Test Execution
Under computer control, a Safety AutoSequence is initiated by means of this exchange:
a. PC software transmits
RSAF\r
to ES601-US via the serial connection.
b. ES601-US responds by returning
*\r
(0x2A 0x0D) to the PC. If the
RSAF\r
command is received by ES601-US without errors,
the
*\r
response should be returned to the PC within 0.2 seconds.
c. PC software sends one ASCII character to ES601-US to specify the AutoSequence. Send:
a
(0x61) to select AutoSequence #1; or
b
(0x62) to select AutoSequence #2; or
c
(0x63) to select AutoSequence #3;
...
and so on up to
x
(0x78) to select AutoSequence #24. PC software must send this character
within two seconds of the
*\r
response from ES601-US, otherwise ES601-US will time out
and abort the protocol. If ES601-US receives a character other than
a
to
x
, ES601-US
returns
?\r
to the PC and aborts the protocol.
As an alternative to sending a lower-case letter, PC software can alternatively send an upper
case letter:
A
(0x41) specifies AutoSequence #1,
B
(0x42) specifies AutoSequence #2, and so
on up to
X
(0x58) which specifies AutoSequence #24. The difference is that sending lower-
case causes ES601-US to execute a complete AutoSequence as if the test had been selected
from the SAFETY AUTOSEQUENCE menu, beginning with CONNECTION
Checkitems, patient leadS setup, and SEQUENCE control menus. Alternatively, for upper-
case letters, these initial information and setup menus are bypassed and execution of the test
begins immediately with the first measurement.
d. In response to the sequence character from the PC, ES601-US initiates the test and within
one second or less returns a message specifying the safety standard of the selected sequence,
