The ESCAPE key may be pressed on any submenu to return to the main ECG menu. On the main ECG
menu, pressing ESCAPE returns the display to the MANUAL MODE menu.

When manually operating the ECG Simulator via the prior menu system, it is not possible to save "ECG
test results" in the Clip Record. ECG test results can be obtained and saved to the Clip Record by running
an ECG AutoSequence as described in the ECG AutoSequence section of Chapter 6.

5.16 Capturing Test Time

Some institutions require monitoring and recording of the time spent performing certain types of work. This
requirement is satisfied in part by a timer internal to ES601-US, which is started and stopped in response to
activity of the analyzer.

When ES601-US is powered up, the "Test Time" counter is initially reset to zero and is inhibited from
counting.

When any measurement is selected from the menu, the timer is started if it is not currently running. The
timer counts upward in elapsed seconds and has sufficient range to clock up to 18 hours. The timer
continues to run until a Test Record is saved. The "Test Time" is then saved in the Test Record along with
the measurement data.

The actual time spent performing an assigned work task may be significantly greater than the time taken by
ES601-US to complete a series of measurements. To allow for this difference and to accurately capture
labor expenditure, automated tests such as

Checklists

and

AutoSequences

can be configured to prompt the user

to enter the overall time spent performing a task. This "User Time" is input via the on-screen QWERTY
keypad, and is saved in the record in addition to the safety analyzer's "Test Time" and the measurement
data. Automated testing is covered in Chapter 6, and enabling of the prompt for "User Time" is described in
Section 3.2.
