External Alarm Interface
The external alarm interface is used for NE alarms and user con
fi
gurable output and inputs. It
provides output with solid state relay contacts and inputs for external voltage free contacts, for
example relays. Inputs can also be voltage driven.
The user con
fi
gurable output is similar to conventional relay and have three pins; common (Com),
normally closed (NC) and normally open (NO) pins. The con
fi
guration is carried through CLI or
8000 Intelligent Network Manager.
Fig. 9 Input
In addition to the outputs, there are four user con
fi
gurable inputs which consist of comparator and
protecting circuits. When the input is connected below the threshold voltage, for example, to ground
by an external device (relay), the state of the input is considered to be closed, otherwise open.
The user is able to con
fi
gure a possible consequence action if the input state changes, i.e. what
kind of an alarm is risen. A typical application would be, for example, site intrusion detection or
site power supply problems.
The connector type is RJ-45, female, with 8 pins.
Fig. 10 RJ-45 Connector
The port must be connected to the same type of port with proper cable, otherwise network
element functionality may be affected or physical damage may occur. Long cables should be
terminated properly to reduce interference.
