it is placed (Fig. 7.2).
Attention!
For use in accordance with EN 12841-B, the
blocking wheel must be kept in the Rest position (Fig. 6.1).
9.2 - EN 12841-B warnings.
1) Follow all warnings explained in paragraph 8.2.
2) The device must always be placed at a higher level relative to the attachment
point of the harness and the fall factor must never be superior to 1. 3) Maximum
fall allowed: 1 m.
10) RFU 11.075 USE.
The Easy Speed device complies with the requirements of the RFU PPE-R/11.075
Version 1 for inclined and horizontal use over an edge (r ≥ 0,5 mm - Fig. 13.1).
The device can therefore be used on horizontal or inclined structures where edges
have a radius greater than 0,5 mm (e.g. wooden beams, rounded parapets etc.).
Attention!
Where possible the use over sharp edges should be kept to a minimum;
use over sharp edges poses greater risks compared to normal use.
10.1 - RFU 11.075 warnings.
1) If the risk assessment has shown that the fall
edge is a particularly sharp edge and/or not free from burs (e.g. an unclad proof
parapet or a sharp concrete edge), before the start of the work at height you will
need to: take all corresponding precautions to rule out the risk of falling over the
edge, install an edge protection or contact the manufacturer for further advice.
2) The anchor point of the flexible anchor line must not be below the user’s stand
level (e.g. platform, flat roof). 3) The angle in between the vertical edge of the
structure and the work plan must be at least 90° (Fig. 13.2). 4) Under the edge, a
minimum free space of at least 5 m is necessary (Fig. 13.2). 5) The flexible anchor
line must always be used in such a way that there is no slack in the rope. The
length can only be adjusted where the user is not moving towards the edge. 6) To
prevent a fall pendulum effect, the working area and the lateral movements from
the axis perpendicular to the edge and passing through the anchor point of the
flexible anchor line, on both sides, should be limited in each case to a maximum
of 1,5 m (Fig. 13.3). In all other cases, no individual anchor point should be used
but rather a Class C or D anchor device pursuant to EN 795:2012. 7) If the flexi-
ble anchor line is used with a Class C anchor device pursuant to EN 795:2012,
e.g. a horizontal flexible anchor line, the deflection of the anchor device must
also be taken into account when determining the necessary fall clearance distance
beneath the user. Pay attention to the details in the instructions of use of the anchor
device. 8) Consider the trajectory of a possible fall in order to avoid dangerous
impacts against obstacles of any kind. 9) When recovering a person following a
fall over an edge, consider the risk of injury because the fallen person could bump
into parts of the building or construction.10) Special rescue measures are to be
determined and trained in the event of a fall over an edge. 11) Before the edge
or an obstacle, it’s recommended to tie a knot on the rope in order to avoid hitting
the obstacle or falling over the edge. 12) Working load limit: 120 kg.
11) FALL CLEARANCE
(Fig. 17).
The fall clearance distance is the minimum free
space under the feet of the user that must be guaranteed to prevent the user from
colliding with the ground or any other obstacle along the fall line, in case of a
fall due to incorrect manoeuvres, to failure or malfunctioning of the working line
or one of its components. The fall clearance (F) is given by the stopping distance
(H) plus an additional distance of 1 m (B). These values must be added to the
extension of harness and anchor line (E); the extension of the anchor line is due to
the elasticity of the rope and can vary depending on the conditions of use (e.g.
distance between user and anchor point). The table shows the values with fall
factor 1 and 2, in different configurations and for 40 kg masses. The distance be-
tween the attachment point on the harness and the user’s feet is, as a general rule,
equivalent to 1,5 m (C).
Attention!
Before and during each use it is essential to
consider the fall clearance value required by the equipment in use.
Attention!
The
values shown in the table are based on theoretical estimates and drop tests with
a rigid weight.
Attention!
Should the user be below the indicated fall clearance
distance height, it might happen that he’s not protected from falls: therefore it is
suggested to adopt supplementary measures during the climbing or the descent.
12) SYMBOLS.
Refer to the legend in the general instructions (paragraph 16):
F1; F2; F9.
13) REPLACEMENT PARTS / ACCESSORIES.
This product is compatible only with the spare parts and specific accessories listed
below: Link 20* (Ref. No. 7W924020); Link 40* (Ref. No. 7W924040).
Attention!
Accessories/spare parts marked with an asterisk (*) by themselves do
not constitute PPE.
Attention!
Before installing an accessory/replacement part,
carefully read and understand the instructions for use of the device on which it
will be installed.
Attention!
Before use make sure that the accessory/spare part
is correctly installed.
14) USE OUTSIDE THE STANDARD / REGULATION.
The use described below is not covered by European standards EN 12841:2006-
A/B and EN 353-2:2002 nor by Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and is exclusively
intended for expert users.
14.1 - Use with cow’s tail
(Fig. 18). The device can be used as a second back
up device (e.g. for rope to rope transfers, passing intermediate anchors, etc.), if
connected to the harness using a cow’s tail made of dynamic rope Ø 11 mm,
installed on the EN 813 attachment point of the harness and terminating with a
EN 362 connector.
Attention!
The total length allowed for the cow’s tail is 90
cm, including the connector.
Attention!
! While using the device this way, do not
exceed fall factor 1, with 100 kg maximum working load.
Attention!
While using
the device this way, the blocking wheel must be kept in the Rest position.
