Replacing three-phase generator

12 31

Removing three-phase generator

Note:

For further information on the work described below,
see brief version of instructions (

46.29) or full de-

scription in the relevant chapters.

–

Remove the seat.

–

Remove the left and right (

46.8) and the rear

left/right side sections of the fairing (

46.15).

Important:

Disconnect the negative battery terminal first, then
the positive terminal.

–

Remove the battery (

00.69).

•

Release the exhaust-system retainer at the si-
lencer.

Warning:

Comply with safety precautions when handling or
working with fuel; note that the fuel lines are pressu-
rised.

–

Remove fuel tank (

16.5).

–

Remove intake air silencer (

13.6).

•

Injection rail: Slacken screws and remove fasten-
ers.

•

Pull the injection rail with the injectors out of the
intake stubs.

–

Secure lifter to the engine sump.

–

Remove rear wheel drive unit (

33.7).

–

Remove swinging arm and universal shaft
(

33.21).

–

Detach the cross-tube at the bottom (

46.25).

•

Press left and right radiators with fans out of their
holders.

•

Cut through the cable tie for the clutch bleed line
at the frame.

Important:

Unscrew the three fasteners uniformly and in diago-
nally opposite sequence.

•

Remove the clutch slave cylinder and guide the
clutch line through upwards.

•

Disconnect the plug for the gear indicator switch
and guide the cable through downwards.

•

Disconnect the plug for the water temperature
sensor at the cylinder head and guide the cable
through downwards.

•

Disconnect the plug for the side stand switch
and guide the cable through downwards.

•

Disconnect the plug for the oxygen sensor and
guide the cable through downwards.

•

Disconnect the cable from the starter.

•

Disconnect the earth (ground) lead from the up-
per cross-tube.

•

Pull off cap (1).

•

Remove fastener (2) from generator lead.

•

Take off generator lead.

•

Pull off flat plug (3).

–

Raise the frame (

46.29).

•

Remove the three securing screws (4).

•

Pull the generator (5) off the intermediate flange.
