Removing/installing rear frame

e

Important:

Disconnect the negative battery terminal first, then
the positive terminal. Connect the positive battery
terminal first, then the negative terminal.

•

Disconnect ground lead from battery and insu-
late.

–

Remove left and right fairing side sections
(

a

46.8).

–

Remove tail section (

a

46.7).

–

Remove the grab handle (

a

46.18).

•

[Option pannier case carrier with luggage
rack]

Remove grab handle

with luggage rack.

–

Remove the lock carrier (

a

46.19).

–

Remove rear carrier section (

a

46.7).

•

Remove coolant expansion tank.

•

Remove cable ties for cables from rear frame.

•

Remove plug connectors at left and right of rear
frame.

•

Remove the diagnostic plug.

•

Remove the retaining hoop for the exhaust sys-
tem.

•

Remove the support for the seat tray (1).

•

Remove fastener securing fuse box (2).

•

Remove the battery holder from the rear frame
on the right.

•

Remove fastener (1) securing brake-fluid reser-
voir to rear frame.

•

Remove fastener for spring-strut adjuster from
back of rear frame and disengage the hose from
the clip.

•

Detach the rear frame from the main frame and
lift it clear.

•

Remove add-on parts.

Note:

The type plate has to be replaced if a replacement
rear frame is installed.

•

Installation is the reverse of the removal proce-
dure.
