Removing/installing slider tube

bridge

–

Remove the engine spoiler and holder
(

a

46.14).

•

Secure lifter,

BMW No. 00 1 510

, to oil sump.

e

Important:

Do not operate the handbrake lever when the brake
calipers have been removed. Protect painted parts
from scratching: apply adhesive masking tape if
necessary.

Remove front wheel (

a

36.5).

–

Remove left and right fairing side sections
(

a

46.8).

–

Remove front mudguard (

a

46.6).

–

Remove/install steering damper (

a

31.17).

–

Remove protective cap of leading link fastener.

e

Important:

Screw is secured with a thread-locking compound.

L

Note:

Support the slider tubes.

•

Release the fastener for the leading link at slider
tube bridge (1) with the socket wrench insert and
internal hexagon,

Important:

Screw is secured with a thread-locking compound.

•

Undo the fasteners (arrows) at slider tube
bridge (1).

e

Important:

Make sure that brake line and front sensor cable are
not stretched when telescopic fork extends. Sup-
port the slider tubes.

•

Extend the telescopic fork.

•

Remove slider tube bridge (1).

•

Installation is the reverse of the removal proce-
dure. Pay particular attention to the following:

•

Install front quick-release axle.

Important:

When installing, use a new screw.

•

Tighten the fasteners (arrows) at slider tube
bridge (1).

e

Important:

When installing, use a new nut.

•

Tighten the leading link fastener to fork slider
tube bridge (14), using socket wrench insert and
internal hexagon,
