5.3.9 Bottom Plate
The bottom plate helps you to position the acquisition objects. It includes two bolt heads on the
front panel to help you position and fix the samples or sample masks accurately. In addition,
there are 2 drilled holes for accurate positioning of sample holders.
Maximum sample size for acquisition:
Standard resolution: 250 mm x 250 mm (NC-320 230 mm x 340 mm)
The maximum dimensions are slightly different if you are using other aspect ratios and resolu-
tions. The sample size is defined in the
<Sample Size> section.
The bottom plate is the focus level for the automatic camera setting (sample height 0 mm). If the
acquisition area of the sample is higher (e.g. due to a sample holder), you have to take this dif-
ference into account.
The sample holders for animal anesthesia, which are available as extras, and the line light, for
example, increase the sample height by 40 mm. If the sample is placed on such a table, you
have to enter 40 mm as minimum height.
If you are measuring animals, you should enter half the animal's height as sample height.
Calculation example:
Animal height 30 mm, sample holder for gas anesthesia is used (40 mm high).
Total height of sample = ½ animal table height = 15 mm + 40 mm = 55 mm
Enter 55 mm as sample height in the [ Sample Size ] dialog box, [ Sample Height ].
The bottom plate can be removed:
o
for cleaning, if liquid was spilled, or
o
to turn the screw nut to move the camera lift manually (see chapter 7.1).
In addition, the bottom plate can be pulled out from the front to facilitate the loading of samples.
When you push the bottom plate back in again, make sure that the plate snaps into place with
an audible click.
