LB 983 NightOWL II Operating Manual

Quick Start

17

4.1.3  Unpacking

Unpack the boxes and make sure you have everything. In case you discover any sign of damage
on the instruments or instrument parts, notify the shipping agent and/or the distributor immediate-
ly.

Remove the transport safety devices with care!

Provide  adequate  space  for  setting  up  the  instruments.  You  need  about  2 meters  to  set  up
NightOWL II, computer and printer next to each other.

The  device  feet  of  the  NightOWL  II  are  height-adjustable  to compensate  for  a  possible  uneven-
ness of the table. By turning the device feet, their height can be adjusted to ensure a safe foot-
hold of the NightOWL II.

4.1.4  Camera Installation

For  safety  reasons,  the  camera  is  delivered  in  a  special  case  to  prevent  damage  during
transport. Therefore, the camera has to be installed first before it is taken into operation.

Do not turn on the NightOWL as long a no camera has been installed

. After power on, the

device is initialized and the camera is moved up to the home position. Thus, installation of the
camera without using the IndiGO software is not possible.
If the device is transported over larger distances (e.g. in a car or truck), you have to dismantle
the camera prior to the transport to rule out that the camera will get damaged. Also, remove the
base plate whenever you a transporting the device to prevent damage.

USB camera (NC100u)

The NC100U camera includes a USB port to control the camera and to transfer data. The cam-
era is delivered in a separate case which also accommodates other accessories, such as con-
nection cable etc.
Install  the  camera  with  the  type  label  facing  the

“Front”  sticker  and  fix  it  using  the  enclosed

knurled  screws  (3).  Plug  the  connection  cable  (4)  included  with  the  camera  to  the  left  of  the
camera and secure it. Plug the other end of the adapter into the camera. Finally, plug the USB
connector into the camera and connect the air adapter to the camera (magnet) as well as the air
bellows.
This completes the installation of the camera.
