System Description

The camera transport unit includes a device to prevent collisions with the bottom or ceiling of
the camera box, i.e. a micro switch stops the lift movement (audible click), when the camera
transport unit collides with the sample. When the resilient bottom part of the camera transport
unit touches the bottom plate or the sample carrier, the micro switch stops any further move-
ment. This may happen in extraordinary cases, for example, when the computer crashes while
the transport unit is moving down. The camera transport unit can be moved up under control of
the software only after the blockage is removed. See chapter 7.1 for more information.
5.3.6 Camera Lift
The camera lift moves the camera transport unit. The movement is also controlled via software:
The automatic setting takes place by providing information on the sample size in the application
definition. Reference level for the sample height is the surface of the extending table.
Take off the bottom plate to have access to the spindle which moves the camera lift.
Do not reach into the instrument while the camera lift is moving
→ Risk of injury.
5.3.7 Filter Wheel
The filter wheel is installed below the camera.
It is held by a magnet and can be taken out from below with a slight jerk. The filter positions are
identified by numbers (1 to 4).
Please observe the correct installation direc-
tion (arrow on the filter wheel) when loading
the filter. Please refer to the filter manufac-
turer's description. The filters should be se-
cured from above against falling out by the
snap rings which are included with the de-
vice. For installation, slide the filter wheel on-
to the shaft until you feel distinctly that is has
snapped into place. Then click
from
the Acquisition dialog box (Start an Acquisi-
tion)to initialize the filter wheel.
In the filter manager you can enter name and properties of all filters. The filter inventory is sepa-
rate for emission and excitation filters. The filter manager handles the filter wheels with their fil-
ters.
Filter position 4 should remain empty for the acquisition of photographic images.
Do not reach into the filter wheel while the wheel is moving
→ Risk of injury.
