7.1 Hardware
7.1.1 What to do if collisions occur?
If a collision of the camera lift with the sample or the sample carrier has occurred, a micro switch stops
the lift movement immediately. In this case, the IndiGO software shows a message that a collision has
occurred and provides information to remedy the error.
The following options are available:

The software proposes to move the camera up completely and then reset the other devices (focus drive,
emission filter wheel) to get back to normal operation. Chose this option if you are sure that the camera
drive unit has not yet got stuck. The camera drive unit should still be capable of running if the lower bottom
plate of the camera fixture is still resilient, i.e. has not yet reached the mechanical end stop. The system is
ready for operation after the reset is completed.

No further action is proposed, the program continues and the collision can be remedied manually by
switching off the instrument and move the camera drive manually. This approach should be chosen if the
drive unit got stuck; in this case, click on
.
Proceed as follows to remedy a collision.
7.1.2 Camera Lift Sits on a Sample Carrier
1. Slightly raise the resilient bottom of the camera lift and pull out the sample carrier.
2. Now turn down the lift slightly, the micro switch is triggered and the blockage is re-
moved.
3. Reboot the system by switching off the NightOWL and turn it back on after a couple of
seconds:
Alternatively the instrument can be rebooted through the software by clicking on
in the toolbar and selecting <Boot Device> from the <Reference> dropdown
list.
The camera transport unit is now moved to its home position (very top).
4. Continue work and check why the collision occurred to avoid further problems. Remove
the obstructing object if required.
7.1.3 Camera Lift Sits on the Bottom of the Acquisition Chamber
Turn the spindle on the camera transport unit to the right so that the lower level of the
camera transport unit moves up. This will create so much clearance that the blockage
is removed and the camera can be controlled again via the software.
