Timing
Auto Adaptive mode has separate Open and Close
inverse timers with a setting range of 60 to 3600
seconds in 1 second increments and a default
setting of 1800 seconds. It uses a linear integrating
timer type when voltage returns in band before
timing is complete which decrements the timer at
a fixed rate to 0.
Open and Close Voltage Rails
The control calculates its operational Open and
Close Voltage Rails based on the Bandcenter and
Bandwidth. The Bandcenter minus 1/2 the Bandwidth
is the Close Voltage Rail and the Bandcenter plus
1/2 the Bandwidth is the Open Voltage Rail. These
values are not displayed in CapTalk.
Time Override
In the Auto Control Mode a Time Override can
be applied to capacitor bank Open and Close
operations. The Time Override feature considers
Start Date, Start Time, End Date, End Time,
Duration, Recurrence Pattern and a Range Of
Occurrences to implement the override.
Temperature Override
In the Auto Control Mode a Temperature Override
can be applied to capacitor bank Open and Close
operations. The Temperature Override feature
considers sensed ambient temperature and
implements override action (Open, Close or None)
for either above or below temperature setpoint
conditions.
Install Mode (Presetting Bandcenter Value for
Auto Adaptive Voltage Control Mode)
Install Mode should be used with the Auto Adaptive
Averaging mode to initialize the control to its
location. It is recommended that the installer uses
this feature with this mode of operation to optimize
the control operation. The Install Mode sequence
of operation is described in Step 5.
The Install Mode feature can only be initiated locally (not
available remotely). By selecting Install Mode from the
Utility menu in CapTalk
®
or through the HMI the user
can preset the Auto Adaptive Bandcenter value from
95.0 to 140.0 Volts (Default value 120 VAC).
NOTE: The Install Mode feature may be
interrupted at any time during its
operation by placing the Remote/Auto
Local/Manual switch in Local/Manual
and then back to Remote/Auto. The
control will regulate based on its settings,
however the control will still perform the
Install Mode when power is cycled to the
control.
To preset the Auto Adaptive Bandcenter proceed
as follows:
1. If utilizing CapTalk to communicate
locally with the control perform the
following:
a. Insure that the M‑6280A is in
Voltage Control/Auto Adaptive/
Average Mode (Figure 4‑62)
b. Navigate to the Install Mode feature
in CapTalk (Figure 4‑65).
c. Enter the desired Bandcenter
Average value.
d. Select "Save". CapTalk will display a
write to control confirmation screen
(Figure 4‑2).
e. Select "OK". CapTalk will briefly
display a setpoints successfully
written to the control confirmation
screen, and then return to the
Install Mode dialog screen.
f. Go to Step 3.
