Pyramid 2 Keyboard

ACCESSING THE MATRIX MENU SYSTEM

At the heart of the Pyramid system is a matrix unit (or several matrix units). A matrix unit stores a menu system, which can

be easily customised so that the Pyramid system is set precisely to your requirements.
The Pyramid 2 Keyboard can be used to access this menu system. Then, using a combination of joystick controls, screens

displayed on the keyboard LCD and menus displayed on a monitor, the system can be configured.
To access the matrix menu system, follow the steps below:
1. Select the matrix that is to be accessed  - see 

Using Multi-Matrix Units

 on page 19.

2. Select the monitor that the matrix menu system is to be displayed on - see 

Selecting a Monitor

 on page 13.

3. Press the 

Utility Menu 

screen key.

4. Press the 

Matrix Utilities 

soft-key. The matrix menu system is displayed on the monitor.

5. To exit the matrix menu system at any time, press the 

Exit Matrix 

soft-key.

Note

If an operator leaves the Utility Menu whilst the matrix menu system is still open, it will be necessary to reselect the

soft-key in order to navigate the matrix menu system again.

Matrix configuration is beyond the scope of this guide. For further information on the matrix menu system and matrix

programming in general, see the Matrix Programming Manual.
However, there are four features of the matrix menu system that are particularly applicable to the use of the Pyramid 2

Keyboard. Although these features involve matrix programming, they are likely to be used by a operator with installer or

supervisor privileges. They also involve direct use of the Pyramid 2 Keyboard, and are therefore covered in this guide.
These features are:
• Matrix menu text editing using the Pyramid 2 Keyboard (See page 44).
• Programming Pyramid 2 Keyboard smart cards using the matrix menu system (See page 45).
• Setting up and clearing sequences using the matrix menu system (See page 48)
• Setting the time and date (See page 50).
It is also important to understand how to move around the matrix menu system using the Pyramid 2 Keyboard, and this is

explained on the following page.
