Installation and Operating Instructions

SELECTING A VCR

Video Cassette Recorders with RS232 control ports can be connected to the Pyramid system via the eight serial ports on

the rear panel of a Pyramid matrix unit. When a VCR is connected to the Pyramid system, the controls to operate it are

available on the Pyramid 2 Keyboard.
To operate a VCR using the Pyramid 2 Keyboard, it must first be selected. To do this, it is necessary to know the number

that was assigned to the VCR when the system was installed. This should be available from the site manager.
Once the VCR number is known, it can be selected and operated.

Selecting a VCR

1. Go to the

VCR/MUX

screen. To do this, press the

VCR/MUX

screen key.

2. Using the number keys, enter the number of the VCR that is to be controlled.
3. Press the

VCR

soft-key.

4. The

VCR Control

screen is displayed.

Note

Once a VCR has been selected, it will remain selected for the rest of the current session or until a different VCR is selected.

For example, this means that an operator could use the Pyramid 2 Keyboard to put a VCR into record mode, and then use

the keyboard to control camera and monitor operations.
To do this:
1. Using the soft-keys in the

VCR Control

screen, set the VCR to operate as required. See the following page for more

information on the VCR soft-keys.

2. To take control of camera and monitor operations, press the

Operator

screen key. The control screen for the currently

selected camera is displayed.

3. To return to the

VCR/MUX

screen, press the

VCR/MUX

screen key.

4. Then, to return to the

VCR Control

screen for the selected VCR, press the

VCR

soft-key.
